‘In a Nutshell’

Gretchen Highfield is a Junior Intermediate 2 Iyengar Yoga teacher.  She has been a student of Kay Parry at the BKS Iyengar Yoga Institute of Bondi Junction since she moved from Yarrahapini to study in Sydney when she was a teenager. 20 years later she still studies with an elite group of teachers under Kay’s guidance.

Suzanne Fraser is also a JI2 teacher, now moving towards retirement. Suzanne has studied with both Guruji BKS Iyengar,  Geetaji Iyengar & Prasahant Iyengar and travelled to RIMYI in India 8 times to do so.  She also studies with Kay Parry at BKSIYIBJ.

The workshops this year are themed ‘Props and Adjustments’ and will be a helpful learning for students and teachers alike and both are welcome to attend.  There will be time for discussion, detailed descriptions of how to use props, when and why. The adjustments will often be taken as partner work, learning how to adjust in a way that develops the adjusters understanding of the asana and helping the practitioner improve their pose.

We begin our workshops with and informal refreshment, a time to meet and quietly share concerns with Gretchen & Suzanne.

At midday lunch is served.  A vegetarian banquet sourced from local ingredients wherever possible.  This is another chance to share experiences and ask questions.

Cost $80 / $60 concession.

Iyengar Yoga is more than just exercise or stretching, it is an ancient medicine, developed over thousands of years and perfected by BKS Iyengar into the simple, accessible style of yoga we do in our classes.
